10:30 St. Bartholomew’s Church, Corton AND 12:30 – 3:00 The Den, High Street, Lowestoft

Well here we are 80 years on from when a young Philip Cocks had the inspiration, vision and drive to start his own Scout Group in April 1937.

So much has changed since that time, when seven young lads started out on their Scouting adventures, to now, when we have a thriving group of over 100 Scouts and Leaders. Yes in so many ways so little has changed.

We are still at ‘The Den’ in the High Street, providing quality Scouting for Lowestoft’s young people, and we are on the third generation of youngsters joining the Group experiencing the same fun as their fathers and grandfathers.

The anniversary celebrations will start with a thanksgiving service for 14th Lowestoft scout group; it’s leaders and supporters at 10.30 am at Corton Church. The service led by Rev Roger Key to which everyone is invited will include an excerpt from the Cubs 100th Gang Show as well as readings by cubs, scouts and beavers.

Then from 12 noon there will be open house at The Den where as well as the museum being open there will be plenty for people to see and do including the two camps, rifle shooting, a buffet and at 2.30pm Ken Strong one of the original seven Scouts from 1937, and our youngest Beaver Scout, will cut an anniversary cake.
